City Noir

David Robertson conducts the Saint Louis Symphony in this brilliant and virtuosic performance of “City Noir,” John Adams’ three-movement symphony that doubles as an “imaginary film noir score.” Premiered in 2009 by Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, “City Noir” is a restless and vivid score that, like its film noir models, moves back and forth between lush lyricism and sudden irruptions of jazz-tinged urban frenzy.

Due for release in April 2014 on Nonesuch Records (with Saxophone Concerto). See Nonesuch home page for more details .
